What audiences had to say about Jew! (A Musical):

"Totally enjoyed the show! Well done...very entertaining."
~ Alison Tohill

"A wonderful actress who has talent and charm."
~ Hila Russ

"I thought you did a marvelous job addressing such complicated issues... with humour as well as raw emotion. The [second song] left me in stitches!"
~Christine Lyons

"What I really liked was the way you tied everything together at the end. A very funny concept [and] very timely...Mazel Tov to you and your success!"
~ Marc Gelmon

"Mayor is hilarious, and her songs are sharp and clever.... So warm and uplifting that it gave me the shivers."

Review for The Interview:

"Melinda Gidaly's The Interview is the best of Set C. When an interviewer asks for three words that a job applicant's friends would use to describe her, the woman sarcastically replies that she'd like to say that her pals all call her "punctual, hard-working, and a team player", but she can't bring herself to tell that lie. Having a character speak the truth in a stifling social situation is a popular comic device, and Gidaly is witty with it."
~ Colin Thomas, The Georgia Straight, on the premiere of Melinda's short play The Interview at the second annual Walking Fish Festival

Reviews for This Mortal Lust:

"Probably one of the finest, most creative songwriters that I've come across recently, Melinda captures truthful emotion at its frailest, feistiest, and funniest...
It's Melinda's voice, harnessing power and fragility, sass and sexiness, Broadway and barroom, that grabs you...Each song stand[s] as an individual, planting its own dramatic feet into the solid ground...
Although she has a definite sweet, poetic side, she puts energy and passion into her craft... It's 100% musical firepower."
~ Ashley Petkovski, The Muse's Muse

"Everything about this artist is confrontational...The veiled lyrics of sexual frustration in "Beautiful South" pretty much guarantee you'll never find This Mortal Lust filed in the Christian Science Reading Room...Gidaly's music is sixties girl folk with the musical structure of someone who absolutely hates structure...Imagine Cher in one of her sheer costumes getting drunk at Lilith Fair and hijacking the stage during Jewel's set."
~ Jennifer Layton, Indie-Music.com

"Melinda Gidaly has converted what might otherwise be a fairly standard singer-songwriter folk album into an impulsive and entertaining collage of emotions...Her voice shifts easily from a deep and husky tone to a cafefree soprano, [and] careful listening reveals unexpectedly risque themes that contrast with Gidaly's sweet singing."
~ Josh Kazman, Splendid

"Melinda Gidaly possesses a strong voice and a definite gift with the written word. [Her] lyrics...plainly show her talent for writing confessional songs without becoming too precious. There's a sense of good-natured self-deprecation to the album that quashes any temptation towards self-absorption."
~ Caitlin Lyon, Venus Zine

"This is a wonderful original work from an engaging performer...What separates [Melinda] from the rest of the acoustic singer-songwriters is her gift for provocative lyrics. The 10 songs that make up This Mortal Lust centre around the complex world of relationships, and Gidaly's compelling take on them make it all worth the listen."
~ Michelle Chau, Female Musician.com

"Melinda Gidaly's album consists of lo-fi, witty folk sung with an alarming candour. She has the same sassy brand of honesty about her [as Liz Phair]... This album is a beautiful and daring thing. I hope Gidaly makes many more like it."
~ Anna Maria Stjärnell, Opus Zine

"Cheeky and somewhat melodramatic, this CD...leaves the listener with an interesting phrase or two lingering on the tip of their tongue for days...[Melinda's] style is very distinctive and the album has a definite theme; cover art, lyrics and sound come together to form a very complete picture of Melinda Gidaly."
~ Anne Deming, Collected Sounds

"It is always good to hear strong womens' voices, especially when they are singing and playing their own songs...Her melodies simple and often delicate, [Melinda] allows her strong voice to carry the songs. It is soft and haunting at times, loud and bawdy at others... This Mortal Lust is a good record -- tongue-in-cheek, sweet, funny, cruel, angry and original -- all at the same time."
~ Rachel Jagt, Rambles

"Semisoft erotica"
